More from Google on search plus your world
We’re transforming Google into a search engine that understands not only content, but also people and relationships. We began this transformation with Social Search, and today we’re taking another big step in this direction by introducing three new features:
- Personal Results, which enable you to find information just for you, such as Google+ photos and posts—both your own and those shared specifically with you, that only you will be able to see on your results page;
- Profiles in Search, both in autocomplete and results, which enable you to immediately find people you’re close to or might be interested in following; and,
- People and Pages, which help you find people profiles and Google+ pages related to a specific topic or area of interest, and enable you to follow them with just a few clicks. Because behind most every query is a community.
Together, these features combine to create Search plus Your World. Search is simply better with your world in it, and we’re just getting started.

Google Algorithm Changes
Google make something around 500 to 600 changes to their algorithm each year. So what hope have you got trying to keep up with the changes?
The key is to make sure that you are fully aware about what Google hopes to achieve by making the changes. We still believe that their main driving ambition is to provide the searcher with the most relevant, most up to date, most popular resource for the given search term. Contact us for a free initial site consultation to see how you shape up.

Merry Xmas from Google
Google gives webmasters an early holiday gift. NO MORE PANDA algorithm changes over the holiday period. This move has been taken to avoid any potential negative effects that could hit online retailers (and others) over the festive season, when generally, there will not be anyone around to take any action required.

Bing versus Yahoo?
Bing and Yahoo now neck and neck for the US search market. Google still king with 65% share, but ignore Bing and Yahoo at your peril. We have found that clients with smaller budgets can get a better ROI if they target Bing and Yahoo search customers.

Yahoo site explorer is no more!
Yahoo announce that they have pulled the plug on their site explorer resource page. This was one of the best free back link checking tools (amongst other things) available to SEO’s and businesses alike. This service has now been taken over via the Bing Webmaster Toolset. This is what Yahoo had to say.
“With the completion of algorithmic transition to Bing, Yahoo! Search has merged Site Explorer into Bing Webmaster Tools. Webmasters should now be using the Bing Webmaster Tools to ensure that their websites continue to get high quality organic search traffic from Bing and Yahoo!.”
